Phillip Anthony Griego, a devoted Christian, born on August 5, 1948, in Santa Fe, NM, went to be with our Lord and Saviour, his son and other family members on January 23, 2026.
Phillip is survived by his wife of 59 years, Jane Petty Griego; his daughters, Carrie Quintana, Darla Mier and son-in-law, Marc Mier. Other survivors include his sister, Mary Anaya and brother-in-law, Joe Anaya; his precious grandchildren, Jessica, Katrina, Dominick Jr., Marisa, Mikayla, and two great grandchildren, Valerio and Trinity, along with many nieces and nephews. Also, a special mention to his brother-in-law, Gary Gill and his best friend and cousin, Roger Griego.
Phillip moved with his family to Indianapolis from 1976 to 1978 employed by Chicago Title Insurance Company. In 1978, Phillip was acknowledged for Outstanding Service to the City of Indianapolis for invaluable transportation and general assistance for many people during the ‘Blizzard of ‘78.’ He returned to his home in New Mexico and devoted 33 years of his life serving the people of New Mexico as the Mayor Pro Tem of Santa Fe and as a State Senator. Phillip owned American Surety Title Company and loved spending time with his family and taking care of his ranch.
Phillip loved his sports: The Dallas Cowboys, Notre Dame and his beloved Cubs. He was a man with a great sense of humor, who had a big heart and was loved by all.
Phillip will be missed and always remembered.
