Phil was a resident of Oakland NJ for 53 years where he enjoyed being a crossing guard for many years. He was preceded in death by his parents, Harold Phillip Wales Bowers and Pearl Monroe (DeLong) Bowers; his brother John (Jack) Harvey Bowers and nephew Paul Compton Bowers. Phillip is survived and loved by daughters, Emily Scott, Husband James Scott of Hedgesville WV and Rebecca Marsh, Husband William Marsh and Grandchildren Jesse Marsh and Justin Marsh of Brownsburg IN and Sister-In-Law, Evelyn (Hagstrom) Bowers. For over 30 years, Phil worked for the US Postal Service in Wyckoff NJ where he met many great people, both fellow employees and customers that he treasured. Phillip has carried continuous membership in the VFW starting in Franklin Lakes NJ, where he loved running their flea markets, thru Indianapolis IN where unfortunately he did not have time to get to know the other members. His last year of life was spent in his own apartment at Brownsburg Meadows Assisted Living Facility in Brownsburg IN where he learned to play the card game Trash, participated in as many activities as possible and made many friends that he loved and cherished. He also found his faith again at the Brownsburg Church of the Nazarene and was welcomed by the congregation with open arms. He was a loving father and grandfather, great friend and had a heart of gold, he would help anyone in need and tell a joke or two along the way. Phillip’s wish was to be cremated and interned with his maternal grandparents, Harvey Bowers and Minnie (Compton) Bowers, brother, Jack, and nephew, Paul, in the Circle Hill Cemetery in Punxsutawney PA. A Celebration of life will be held for Phil at Brownsburg Meadows Assisted Living facility in Brownsburg IN and officiated by Pastor Kevin Shonkwiler of the Brownsburg Church of the Nazarene on January 26, 2020 at 1:00pm.
