Philip Stuart Wire, 72, of Indianapolis, Indiana, finally finished the big race on July 20, 2025!
Philip was born in Indianapolis, Indiana on November 11, 1952. He is survived by his wife, Donna, and his three children, Amy Wire-McRaney, Kelly Wire-Kaiser, and Ryan Lawless.
Phil was a lifelong fixture in the Far Eastside community. He was affectionately called Stu by his closest friends and Papa Stu by grandchildren. He graduated from John Marshall High School and spent his working years as a career painter. His longest tenure was for the Gordon Wire Company, where he worked alongside his brother, Rodney Wire; his father, Lonial Wire; and his Uncle Gordon Wire.
Phil was an active member of the Aldersgate Free Methodist Church. He attended the Aldersgate LifeGroup, Taco Thursdays, and served actively on the Security Ministry Team, as a certified agent for Safety in the Church. Phil was beloved in many circles and known for never shying away from sharing how the Lord had blessed him.
Most recently, he developed a passion as a Coach for the Aldersgate Free Methodist Bible Quiz Team for teens, supporting them to trophy wins and multiple first, second, and third places in their category. He was also a colorful character in the Monday Crew, a group that met on Monday mornings at church for discussions on God’s word, current events, and national and local policy.
He was known for his passion and his opinions for all things Mustang, Indy Car, IU, Pacers, and Colts. He was a dedicated model builder of Indy cars and Avenger superheroes. An avid sports fan, Phil joined his brother Rod in the past on exposition fund raisers in football and basketball. They are fondly remembered for playing against radio personalities and the Harlem Globe Trotters.
