Philip Ambrose Peterson, 73, of Indianapolis, IN, passed away on January 14, 2023, after stroke related complications.
Philip was born on August 19, 1949, in Chicago, IL. He was the third son of Isaac Newton and Thelma M Relphorde Peterson Hannon, both deceased. The Peterson family moved to Indianapolis, IN, in 1960.
Philip attended parochial elementary schools in Chicago and Indianapolis. He was in the first class of freshmen at Cardinal Ritter High School, Indianapolis IN, graduating in 1968. Later in life, he continued his education at Indiana Wesleyan University, earning a BS in Business/Accounting.
Philip moved to California and met his future wife, Debbie Glinski. Philip and Debbie married on November 17, 1978, and to this union, two children were born, Andrew (1984), and Tanya (1993). The family also moved back to Indianapolis, IN in 1993 to be closer to family and friends.
Philip served in several roles during his professional career, including as a notary public, an associate with the Transportation Security Administration (TSA), and a lead driver for Enterprise Car Sales.
In addition to his family and friends, Philip enjoyed “old-school music,” from artists like the Commodores, and Michael Jackson (Thriller was one of his favorite albums) and remote-control cars (his son, Andrew brought him one recently). He enjoyed supporting the Chicago Bears, and the Chicago Bulls, especially during the Michael Jordan years. He also enjoyed watching old movies (Godzilla was a favorite), and television shows like Star Trek: The Next Generation and Johnny Quest.
Philip was predeceased by his parents and brother, Robert Anthony. He is survived by his wife, Debbie, son, Andrew (Andrew James), daughter, Tanya; brothers, Stephen, Gregory (Camila), Timote, Mark (Louann), Martin, and Christian “Chris,” (Nona); sisters, Jowanna, Valerie (Claude), Bridgett, Lorraine (William), and Monica. His sister-in-law, Kathy Figas (Bob), and their three children, Wendi, Adam, and Tara, of California, his beloved dogs, Buttercup and Boots, and a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
A private graveside service will be on Friday, January 20th. A celebration of life service will be held at a later date.
