Petra (Giesen) Davis

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of our loyal friend, hilarious sister-in-law, stubborn daughter, supportive wife, and loving mom; Petra Giesen Davis on March 6, 2025.

Petra was born on October 2, 1968, to Veronika (Engles) and Fred Giesen in Krefeld, Germany. Petra’s family moved to Canada in the early 1970s. Petra was an accomplished swimmer in Canada before receiving a scholarship to continue her back stroke swimming career at Ball State University. While at Ball State, she met many lifelong friends and her future husband, David. After graduating from Ball State, she worked for Kirsh & Kirsh Adoptions for 10 years. Around 2010, she became a partner with her husband at Fitness by Design - Carmel.

Petra loved to work in her yard – tending her flowers, landscaping her yard, and relaxing with a dry vodka martini on her back porch. In true Petra form, she even left instructions to her family on how to maintain the yard after her passing. When she wasn’t outside in her yard, she could be found inside her house in the midst of a myriad of demo/remodeling projects. She was a creative, industrious soul – always working hard, creating things, and planning future projects. Petra found joy working puzzles, painting, and boy oh boy…could she tell a story.

Petra loved her family, cherished being a mom, and was immensely proud of her children. Whether she was cheering from the pool deck at their swim meets, surprising them with a complete bedroom remodel, or giving them a loving pep talk, Petra was an unwavering force in her children’s lives.

Petra is survived by her husband, David; her children, Cierra and Wyatt; her mother, Veronika; as well as many friends, clients, and extended family members who will miss her fierce spirit immensely. She was preceded in death by her father, Fred.

Her shuffle dance walk, her laugh, her loyalty, her maple leaf tattoo, her fierceness, her strong will, her whistle, her witty sarcasm, her...everything, will forever remain in our hearts of the force that was and forever will be Petra.

A Celebration of Life service has been planned for June 1, 2025 to celebrate a life that was taken from us far too early.
