Penrod Roy Benson Sr

Penrod Roy Benson Sr., 78, of Terre Haute, Indiana, passed away on September 10, 2026.

Penrod was born on November 10, 1947, in Indianapolis, Indiana, to Edward and Mary Benson. On September 10, 1966, he married the love of his life, Pamela K. Bencik. Together, they built a life centered around family, love, hard work, and countless treasured memories. Penrod passed away on September 10, 2026—their 60th wedding anniversary—marking exactly six decades of marriage and a lifetime shared together. Pamela survives him.

Penrod spent his career in the printing industry, working as a plant manager and dedicating the final 20 years of his career to Ivy Hill Printing. He was a hardworking man who took pride in what he did, but his greatest devotion was always to his family.

An avid golfer, Penrod loved being on the golf course, and when he wasn’t playing a round himself, chances were good he was watching golf on television. He also enjoyed playing cards with family and friends, watching old movies, and spending time in the kitchen. His family will especially remember his homemade dumplings and stew.

Penrod was known for his quick wit and always seemed to have a good one-liner ready. His sense of humor, strong work ethic, and deep devotion to his family were hallmarks of the man he was and will be remembered by all who knew and loved him.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 60 years, Pamela K. Benson; his sons, Penrod Roy Benson Jr. (Janine) and Steven Benson (Cara); his daughter, Penny Davison; 14 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his brother, Bill Benson (Chris); and his sisters, Tracy Lovins (Dennis) and Mary Lou Belzer (Jerry).

He was preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Mary Benson; his sister, Sheila; and his brothers, Bob and David.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, September 16, 2026, at Indiana Funeral Care in Greenwood, Indiana. Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m., with the funeral service immediately following. Pastor Scott Harper will officiate.

Penrod will be laid to rest at Greenlawn Cemetery in Franklin, Indiana.

After 78 years of a life defined by hard work, laughter, and love for his family, Penrod leaves behind a legacy that will live on through the generations of the family he loved so deeply.
