Penny Angelita York-Baker, 59 of Indianapolis, Indiana, passed away peacefully on October 4, 2026 in Columbus, Indiana at Our Hospice.
Born in Indianapolis, Indiana on March 29, 1967, she was the daughter of James York and Penny Titara.
She didn’t really attend school but made sure her niece went faithfully and she worked as a homemaker for most of her life. She enjoyed singing, especially songs by Patsy Cline and she was known for always trying to help someone to bring them in off the street so they weren’t homeless or hungry.
She is preceded in death by her maternal and paternal grandparents, father, James York; mother, Penny Ferguson and her niece, Jessica York.
She is survived by her husband of 21 years David H. Baker, her sister, Mary York-Watson (James), her very special niece whom she called her mini-me, Amanda York-Wilke (Billy), her childhood best friend whom was a sister, Michelle Alleyn (Paul), her two grandsons, Jayden and Ethan Baker, and her bonus dad Jeff Ferguson. She also leaves behind two daughters that she selflessly adopted out for them to have a better chance at life, Desiree York and Patricia York.
No service currently at this time. We will have a celebration of life at a later date.
