Paul Kevin Richard, Indianapolis, peacefully passed away on July 29, 2023 at the age of 77 with his family at his side. Paul was born and grew up in Worcester, MA.
Paul spent his entire career in the museum field after graduating with a masters degree from the Cooperstown Museum Studies Program, Cooperstown, NY. Prior to pursuing his education, Paul served with the US Army and was a paratrooper with the 82nd Airborne. Paul spent many happy and creative years at the Children's Museum of Indianapolis as the Executive Vice President before leaving to start his own consulting business, Small Exhibits. After retirement Paul passionately dedicated his time and talent to helping veterans through the arts. Among his many interests and hobbies were traveling, gardening, writing poetry, making furniture and being a beekeeper. Paul’s deep love for family and his faith was an essential part of his being. Paul’s deep curiosity and knowledge of the natural world were inspiring to his family, friends and colleagues. Ever the romantic, he and his wife Camille were married in Vienna, Austria in 1988 and that was the first of their many adventures around the world.
In addition to Camille, Paul is survived by son Joshua (Nichole), daughters Stephanie (Stephen) Stratigakis and Maryann Gaines as well as six grandchildren and one great grandchild. He is also survived by his sister Jilda St. Martin, sister-in-law Martina Richard, numerous nieces and nephews and his mischievous Airedale, Woodrow.
A private family memorial will be held at a later date. Memorial contributions in Paul’s memory can be made to support the ArtTroop program at the Indianapolis Art Center, 820 E. 67th Street, Indianapolis 46220. The family asks that when in nature you look up to the heavens and say hello to our dear husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend.
