Patrick “Pat” Marvin Gray, 79 of Indianapolis, IN peacefully passed away on Wednesday morning, August 6th, 2025. Pat was born to Marvin and Myra Gray on January 21, 1946.
Pat served in the Unites States Navy. After his service in the military, he went on to work for Union Carbide Corporation for 25 years. He also worked with L-tec Corporation located in Florence, South Carolina for 5 years. After retiring he returned to his home state of Indianapolis, Indiana to start a personal business, with his background in Technology, starting up Solder Wave Incorporated and had several employees including some family members. At the end of Pat’s career, he was employed at Pitney Bowes Management Services indirectly working on sight at Eli Lilly.
Pat would spend his free time traveling, vacationing in Florida and the warmer states. He loved being on the water be it swimming, boating, spending time on the beach. He volunteered and served on the pool committee for several years in his Williston Green Neighborhood community pool where he had lived for 33 years.
Pat loved sports with his favorite being Football, Baseball and Basketball. He coached a little league baseball team, Westlane Delaware Trails, with many awards.
Pat loved the comforts of his home and its serenity.
He also loved to landscape in his own yard, gardening and being outdoors in the sunshine. In past years his vegetable gardens were his pride. His tomato plants were his favorite. He also loved spending time with his family, wife, sons and many pets.
Pat is preceded in death by his parents; Marvin Gray, and Myra Gray, son; Sean Gray, and brother; Michael Gray.
Pat is survived by his wife of 46 years Terri Solhan Gray, sons; Bryan Gray, Patrick Darrell Gray, Matthew C. Gray, and his sister; Kathy Nicoson.
The family would like to express their appreciation and many thanks to the Veterans Administration Hospital of Indianapolis. To his many doctors and specialists throughout the years.
With special thanks to Dr. Jordan Schmitt Oncologist Specialist for her excellent and wonderful care and treatment of Pat.
Also, his “Visiting Angels” who cared for Pat at his home during his illness.
To Hospice Care who made the end of Pat’s life more comfortable, and to the nurses, staff and Dr. Michael Smith.
Visitation will take place on Thursday, August 21, 2025, at St. Monica Catholic Church from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm. Mass Services will start at 1:00 pm with burial to follow at Our Lady of Peace Cemetery.
