Patricia “Patti” Ann (Cox) Fralich, age 87, of Indianapolis, passed away on October 16, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of service, friendship, and devotion to family.

Born on June 28, 1939, Patti was the daughter of Laverne (Mason) Cox and Earl Cox, both of whom preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by her brothers, John Barry Cox and Jim Cox.

A lifelong resident of Indianapolis, Patti graduated from St. Agnes High School in 1957, a community that remained close to her heart throughout her life. The friendships she formed there endured for decades and became a treasured source of companionship, laughter, and support.

On August 6, 1960, Patti married the love of her life, Robert “Bob” Fralich, at St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church. Together they built a life centered on family, faith, friendship, and a lot of euchre. Their marriage of 30 years ended with Bob’s passing in 1991, but the love and memories they shared remained with Patti throughout her life.

Patti dedicated 32 years to public service with the Indiana Department of Labor, where she became a respected advocate for working Hoosiers. Her distinguished career culminated in service within the administrations of three Indiana governors. In recognition of her exceptional contributions to the State of Indiana and its citizens, she was awarded the Sagamore of the Wabash by Governor Evan Bayh in 1997.

Beyond her professional accomplishments, Patti embraced life with curiosity, generosity, and enthusiasm. She was a passionate supporter of the arts, especially Indianapolis’s vibrant live theater community. Alongside her dear friend, Karen “Cookie” DeCourcy, she devoted countless volunteer hours helping make performances and concerts possible for others to enjoy.

Patti found her greatest happiness in the simple pleasures of time spent with loved ones. She cherished traveling the world, lively discussions with her book club, and, most of all, making memories with her grandchildren. Her warmth, wit, loyalty, and genuine interest in others left a lasting impression on everyone fortunate enough to know her.

She is survived by her son, John Fralich; daughter-in-law, Sandy (Cerimele) Fralich; granddaughter, Lucy Fralich (Jack Knight); grandson, Andrew Fralich (Teresa Anderson); nephews Chris Cox (Julie) and Mitch Cox (Lennie); Niece, Angie Workman (Steve) and many beloved great-nieces, great-nephews, extended family members, and lifelong friends.

Patti’s life was marked by service, friendship, and love. She will be remembered for her dedication to her family, her commitment to the people of Indiana, and her ability to

cultivate meaningful friendships that lasted a lifetime. Her legacy will continue in the countless lives she touched through her kindness, generosity, and steadfast presence.

No formal services are planned at this time.
