Otis Lee Jordan, 82, was born on July 15, 1942, in Jasper County, Pachuta, Mississippi, to the late Willis and Sarah Jordan.
At an early age, Otis gave his life to Christ and became a member of Mt. Jordan United Methodist Church in Pachuta, Mississippi. Otis graduated from Southside High School in Heidelberg, Mississippi. Later in life, he moved to Indianapolis, Indiana, where he joined Eastern Star Church. Otis was a dedicated and active member of his church community for 60+ years. He served faithfully as an usher and remained devoted to his church until his health began to decline.
Otis enjoyed a fulfilling career with Rolls Royce and General Motors, retiring early after 40 years of dedicated service.
Though Otis never had children of his own, he was blessed to raise and nurture his niece, Monica Morgan, goddaughter, Tina Woodfork, and godson, Darren Carr who became like daughters and a son to him. He also played a big part and role model to his three stepdaughters, Stephanie Parham, Malinda Scott and Yolanda Edwards.
Otis found immense joy in his faith and hobbies, including; bowling, traveling, hunting, fishing, and playing cards with friends.
On November 7, 2024, Otis departed this earthly life. He was preceded in death by his parents, Willis and Sarah Jordan; brothers, James Ranson, Algrin Jordan, Clinton Jordan, Joe Jordan, Jessie Jordan; sister, Laura Tate; godson, Darren Carr, and step-grandson, John W. Davis, Jr.
Otis leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife, Elizabeth A. Jordan; stepdaughters, Stephanie Parham (Gary), Malinda Scott (Randolph) and Yolanda Edwards (Leslye); niece, Monica Morgan (Kelvin); goddaughter, Tina Woodfork; brothers, Randy Jordan and Nelson Jordan; brother and sisters in law, Donald L. Williams (Ruthy), Doris M. Garrett (Donald), and Roberta C. Bunton (Stacy); nephew, Tyrone Jordan (Jackie). Tyrone was by his uncle's side for the most important part of his life. Otis also leaves a host of special step grandchildren, step great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and his church family.
Otis and Elizabeth shared a deep friendship that blossomed into a lifelong partnership. On September 24, 2024, they were joined as one in holy matrimony.
Visitation will be held on Friday, November 22, 2024, from 9:30 a.m. – 11:30 a.m. with a funeral service at 11:30 a.m. at Eastern Star Missionary Baptist Church, 5750 30th St. Indianapolis, IN 46218. Burial will follow at Crown Hill Cemetery.
