Norma Young

December 23, 1934 — January 30, 2023

Norma Jeanette Young passed away peacefully in her home, Monday, January 30, 2023, at the age of 88 years. Norma was born in Converse, IN, to Henry and Evelyn Rebholz. She was married for 65 years to the love of her life, Robert Young, and together they raised twin daughters, Deborah and Donna, and two sons, Gregory and Benjamin.

Norma was known for her strong faith and generous spirit. She played the piano for church services throughout the years and often sang in the choir. An excellent seamstress, she loved making clothes for her daughters and sewing cross-stitch craft projects. Her beautifully detailed Christmas stockings made for all her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren are cherished treasures. For many years she enjoyed tap dancing and creating beautiful stained glass windows. She always had a novel beside her recliner, puzzle on her table, and requests for her wonderful from-scratch cakes, pies and specialty breads, which she gladly shared with family and friends.

Retiring as Administrative Assistant for Hancock County Senior Services in Greenfield, IN, Norma was previously a real estate agent in Venice, FL, as well as in Dallas, TX; office manager for an OB/GYN office in Indianapolis, IN; and office secretary for a high school in Grand Rapids, MI.

She is survived by her daughters, Deborah (Gary) Deer of Indianapolis, and Donna Craig of Knoxville, TN; her sons, Gregory (Cynthia) Young of New Palestine, and Benjamin (Maureen) Young of Dallas, GA; brother, Philip (Linda) Rebholz of Fort Pierce, FL; 12 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, and several beloved cousins, nieces, and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, sister-Beverly (Rebholz) Howard, and great-grandson-Lucas Deer.

Funeral arrangements are pending. Donations made in lieu of flowers will be used to honor Norma's favorite ministry, the Bible Bowl Team of Indian Creek Christian Church, c/o Deers, 5724 S. Linwood Ave., Indianapolis, IN 46237.
