Nancy Lynn Utz

Nancy Lynn Utz passed away surrounded by loved ones on July 27, 2026. Born in Indianapolis on January 24, 1947, she attended Pike Township schools and earned her bachelor’s in nursing and a Master of Science in Nursing from Indiana University.

She was a devoted mother, a cherished Nana, a loving sister and aunt, a compassionate nurse, and a friend whose kindness left a lasting impression on everyone she met.

Nancy dedicated her life to caring for others. As a nurse, she brought not only knowledge and skill to her profession but also a remarkable ability to comfort people during life's most difficult moments, treating every patient with dignity, respect, and a caring heart.

Nancy found some of her greatest joy exploring the world alongside Lloyd. Together they created treasured memories while traveling throughout Europe, visiting countries such as England, Hungary, Italy, and, perhaps most meaningfully, Sweden, paying homage to her Swedish heritage.

Nancy had been a devoted member of Saint Paul's Episcopal Church beginning in 1990. She had an unwavering faith and found joy as a leader in the parish through St Paul's Music, the Vestry, and outreach. As an active choir member, she participated in several tours to the United Kingdom and to the east coast, performing in Westminster Abbey among other landmark venues. She was a supporter of St Paul's Choir School for Youth and also participated in several recordings by the choir. Many members of St Paul's Episcopal Church adored her and loved her very much.

Of all the roles she held, none meant more to her than being a mother and Nana. Her greatest joy came from watching her family grow and creating lasting memories.

Though her absence leaves a void, her legacy lives on in the lives of those she touched and the family she nurtured. Nancy was proceeded in death by her husband of 50 years, Lloyd Utz, son Gregory Utz, father Morris Katzenberger, and mother Edith Katzenberger. She is survived by daughter Jennifer Utz, son Chad Utz (Amy), grandchildren Cole Reichard, Jarod Utz, Joel Utz, Katherine Utz, Quinn Utz, sister Linda Hack (Ray), and brother Steve Katzenberger (Katie).
