Myron Lee Plambeck passed away on December 2, 2023 in Indianapolis, Indiana. He reached the age of 89 years, 32 days.
Myron Lee Plambeck was born in Omaha, Nebraska on November, 8, 1934, the third child of Herman and Katherine Biel Plambeck. He attended School District #13 in Douglas County, Nebraska, and graduated from Elkhorn, Nebraska High School in 1952. He attended the University of Nebraska for one year, and then served in the United States Navy for 2 years.
He was baptized on April 7, 1935, and was confirmed on March 21, 1948, at Bethany Lutheran Church, Elkhorn, Nebraska. His confirmation verse was: “If a man love me, he will keep my word; and my father will love him, and we will come unto him, and make our abode with him.” John 14:23.
On September 17, 1955, he married Marjorie Emma Waugh. The were the first couple married in Bethany Lutheran Church’s new sanctuary. Three sons were born to this union: Maurice Lee, Mark Alan, and Steven James. Myron and Marjorie shared 68 years together.
Myron and Marjorie farmed for 10 years near Elkhorn, Nebraska and then moved to a farm they purchased near Lyons, Nebraska. They farmed here until retirement in 2000, and then moved to Indianapolis, Indiana for their remaining years.
Myron was preceded in death by his parents, his brother, Harlan, sister, Elaine Winterburn, grandson Joshuwa Plambeck, and niece Lyla Winterburn Peterson. He is survived by his wife, Marjorie, and his three sons and spouses, Maurice (Sam McHenry), of Indianapolis, Indiana, Mark (Alicia), of Yankton, South Dakota, and Steve (Lidia), of Pacifica, California; four grandchildren, Jamie Brown and Michael (Marissa) Plambeck, all of Lincoln, Nebraska, Jeremy Plambeck, of Pacifica, California, and Kassandra (Leith), Plambeck Ghuloum; five great-grandchildren, Lycia McQuilkin of Southport, Indiana, Nevaeh Plambeck, of Enon, Ohio, Noah and Danielle Plambeck and Rilyn Brown, all of Lincoln, Nebraska, as well as in-laws, nieces, nephews and friends.
Myron served as a school board member, the church financial secretary, the Bancroft, Nebraska baseball association, a 4-H leader, and a member of the Bancroft Bandboosters Club. He loved sports, and was an avid fan of all Bancroft sports, the Nebraska Cornhuskers, and more recently, the Indianapolis Colts. He enjoyed playing tennis and golf while living near Bancroft.
After moving to Indianapolis, he worked at Lowe’s until his failing eyesight brought on retirement. He later years were spent listening to audio books and TV movies. He always enjoyed eating out.
Myron and Marjorie were active in St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Bancroft, and Our Redeemer Lutheran Church, Indianapolis. Most recently they have been members of Cross and Crown Lutheran Church, Indianapolis.
