Miriam Irene Wiles, age 87, Indianapolis, Indiana, formally of Portage, Indiana passed away Wednesday, February 19, 2020 at her residence.
Miriam was born August 17, 1932 in LaPorte Indiana, the daughter to the late Kenneth and Mabel Murphy.
Miriam was preceded in death by her only son Harold Lee Wendt, sister Opal Murphy and brother Clarence Murphy. Miriam is survived by, Daughter in Law Ruth Wendt with whom she lived with, Daughters, Kathy Krug, Debbie Sutton (Charles), Linda Jeffers (Roger) and Brenda Aliff. Grandchildren, Christopher Wendt (Melissa), Ryan Wendt (Emily), Jeffrey Krug (Lisa) Brian Krug, Amanda Chavez (Corey), Dana Surowiec (Derek), Aaron Jeffers (Krystal) and Joshua Jeffers (Melissa). 16 great-grandchildren and one great, great grandchild.
Miriam was a beautiful person inside and out who thrived the most when she was spending time with her family and friends. Her spirit was kind, sweet and gentle and joyfully filled every room she entered. Her warm welcoming smile, her sincere embraces and her willingness to put others before herself made every friend and family member feel not only cared for and important, but also genuinely loved. She loved making potholders and giving they to all that were close to her.
A celebration of her life is scheduled for Saturday, March 7, 2020 at 11am at West Newton United Methodist Church, 6843 Mendenhall Rd, Indianapolis, In
