It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Michelle Burris (Sowders) at the age of 61. Michelle was a resident of Indianapolis, IN, where she lived a life rich in love, faith, and devotion to her family.
Michelle's greatest joys came from her children and grandchildren. She poured her heart into every moment spent with them, creating cherished memories that will last a lifetime. Her passion for family was evident in all that she did, and she will be fondly remembered for the warmth she brought to their lives.
Professionally, Michelle dedicated 30 years of her career to Anthem in Human Resources and also contributed her skills as an administrative assistant at St. Vincent NICU. Additionally, she served as a project manager at Mussett Nicholas & Associates, making a lasting impact in each role she held.
Michelle is survived by her sister, Deborah Mullenix; her son, Zachary Burris (Amy); her daughter, Stephanie Koers (Charlie); and her beloved grandchildren: Hudson, Xander, Logan, Lydia, and Amelia. She was preceded in death by her mother, Sarah J. Buscemi; father, Monty B. Sowders; and sister, Monica Sifers.
A woman of deep faith, Michelle devoted her time to Catholic ministries and was an active member of her church community. Her faith guided her life, and she exemplified kindness, generosity, and quiet strength.
Visitation will be held on Friday, March 6th, from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM at Indiana Funeral Care, followed by a service on Saturday, March 7th, at 11:00 AM at Nativity Catholic Church. There will be a gathering at the church at 10:00 AM prior to the service.
Michelle will be deeply missed, forever remembered, and lovingly carried in the hearts of all who knew her. She leaves behind a legacy of love that will continue to inspire those who were fortunate enough to be part of her life.
