In Loving Memory of Mike Poole

July 3, 1949 – October 20, 2026

Mike Poole, 77, passed away on October 20, 2026, leaving behind a loving family and many cherished memories. He will be remembered for his years of service, his willingness to help others, his strong faith, and the joy he found in spending time with his family.

Mike was born on July 3, 1949, in Dunedin, Florida. He graduated from Wood High School in Indianapolis in 1968 and went on to proudly serve 11 years in the United States Army.

Following his military service, Mike worked as a custodian at Rock Crusher Elementary School in Homosassa, Florida, for many years. After moving to Indiana, he worked in landscaping before becoming Head of Maintenance at Quick Pak, where he continued working until his retirement in 2010.

Mike had a servant’s heart and found great fulfillment in helping others. He was a member of Valley Mills Christian Church, where he enjoyed serving as a deacon. He was also dedicated to serving the homeless and participating in shepherding projects through his church. Whether through his work, his church, or simple acts of kindness, Mike made a difference in the lives of those around him.

Mike was also a member of the American Legion, where he proudly rode with the Legion Riders. He was a lifetime member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars. His continued dedication to veterans and his fellow service members reflected his deep pride in his military service and his commitment to honoring others who served.

In his free time, Mike enjoyed cooking and sharing his talents with others. Above all, he treasured his family. He found his greatest joy in being with his loved ones and especially enjoyed watching his grandchildren and great-grandchildren grow. His love, generosity, and steady presence will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

Mike is survived by his beloved wife of 34 years, Beverly; his daughter, Amanda (Ed) Poole; his daughter, Sharon O’Dell; and his son, David Richards. He also leaves behind four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren, who brought him much happiness.

He is also survived by his two brothers, Jamie Cardnell and Skip Poole, and his two sisters, Candy (Louie) Lott and Jann (Rob) Kanizar.

Mike was preceded in death by his parents, Kaye and Jim Cardnell; his sisters, Cathy Wabbersen and Beth Nolan; his daughter, Laura Poole; his grandson, Chris O’Dell; and his great-grandson, Exavan Daupert.

Mike’s life was a testament to service, faith, kindness, and family. His legacy will live on through the many lives he touched and the generations of family who will continue to cherish his memory.

He will be lovingly remembered and forever missed.
