Michael Philip Kennedy, 69, Indianapolis, passed away with his loved ones by his side on August 5, 2024, at Carmel Health and Living, in Carmel, IN. He was born January 5, 1955, in Indianapolis, IN, to the late Philip Paul Kennedy and Susan Maureen (Duckworth) Kennedy.
After completing his education, Michael worked for much of his life, and was later employed as a foreman for Allisons Transmission. He married his wife, Sheila Lynn (Meimberg) Kennedy on February 25, 1984. Together they spent over 40 years by each other’s sides, raising their family and watching their children grow.
Michael will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend to many who also had many joys in life. Michael was known for his sense of humor and quick wit, always finding a way to make others around him smile no matter what obstacles came their way. He loved watching sports, especially football with the Indianapolis Colts and IU Basketball, as well as racing every year. His greatest joy in life, however, was the time he spent with his family and friends, who will all miss him very much.
Michael is survived by his wife, Sheila Kennedy; two daughters, Abigail (Brian) Villines and Jillian Kennedy (Wendon Wykes); two brothers, Mark (Pam) Kennedy, and Brian Kennedy; grandson, Flint Villines; three bonus grandchildren, Noah, Jonah, and Lucy; aunt, Cheryl (Don) Cook; mother-in-law, Donna Meimberg; as well as several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Philip Paul Kennedy and Susan Maureen Kennedy; his grandson, Finn Wykes; and father-in-law, Bill Meimberg.
The family would like to give special thanks to Carmel Health and Living as well as Compassus Hospice for the wonderful care that they provided to Michael over the years.
A celebration of life will be announced by the family at a later date and time. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Michael’s memory to Bosma Visionary Opportunities Foundation, 7223 Woodland Dr, Indianapolis, IN 46278, or to the National MS Society, https://www.nationalmssociety.org/.
Indiana Funeral Care is honored to be assisting the family with arrangements.
