Michael Elwood Hargraves

Michael Elwood Hargraves, born December 23, 1946, passed away peacefully on May 18, 2026. A dedicated U.S. Army veteran and respected member of his community, Michael served his country with honor during the Vietnam War from 1967 to 1969. Following his military service, he committed many years working as a crane operator at General Motors, where his skill and diligence were deeply valued.

Michael was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Pamela (Hale) Hargraves, as well as his parents, Elwood and Dessie (Robinson) Hargraves, and three older sisters. They remain close in the hearts of all who knew him.

He is survived by his devoted daughter Angela Hargraves, who stood as a pillar of strength throughout his life. Michael also leaves behind two grandsons, Bryan and Branden Hargraves, along with many cherished great-grandchildren who will carry forward his legacy of love and resilience.

A visitation to honor Michael’s life will be held on May 27, 2026, from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at Indiana Funeral Care - Greenwood Chapel, located at 2433 E. Main St., Greenwood, Indiana 46143. The funeral service will immediately follow at 1:00 PM the same day at the chapel, providing friends and family an opportunity to pay their respects and celebrate his journey. Later that afternoon, a graveside service will take place at Washington Park East Cemetery, 10612 E. Washington Street, Indianapolis, Indiana 46229, beginning at 3:00 PM.

Michael’s life was marked by steadfast dedication—both to his country and his family. His memory will be honored through the ongoing love of those closest to him. Though he has departed from this world, his spirit, strength, and kindness continue to inspire all who had the privilege of knowing him.
