Michael James Eck

Michael James Eck, born on May 25, 1965, in Indianapolis, Indiana, passed away on May 5, 2026. He was a cherished husband, brother, and friend whose life was marked by love, kindness, and a warm devotion to those around him.

Michael lived a life enriched by simple joys and meaningful connections. He found great pleasure in exploring Goodwill stores and scouring posts on Facebook Marketplace, always on the lookout for unique treasures. His fondness for animals was evident in the special time he spent with his beloved dogs and cats, who brought him comfort and companionship.

One of Michael’s proudest accomplishments was his marriage to the love of his life, Michael Dean Eck, on June 13, 2015. Their partnership was a source of profound happiness and strength, testament to a deep and enduring bond.

Michael is survived by his devoted husband, Michael Dean Eck; his brothers Jerry (Connie) Leverett and Roy Leverett; his sister Martha Leverett; his sister Geraldine (Leverett) Gourmon; and many nieces and nephews who held him dear. He also leaves behind a legacy of love and cherished memories that will continue to inspire and uplift all who knew him.

He was preceded in death by his father, Leon Johnson; his mother, Bernice (Groce) Leverett; his brother Gary Leverett; his sister-in-law Carla Leverett; grandfather; and ex partner Naythene (Leverett) Ryner.

Family and friends are invited to pay their respects during a visitation held on May 19, 2026, from 11:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. at Indiana Funeral Care - Greenwood Chapel, located at 2433 E. Main St., Greenwood, Indiana. Following the visitation, a graveside service will take place the same day at 2:30 p.m. at Forest Lawn Memory Garden, 1977 S SR 135, Greenwood, Indiana.

Michael James Eck’s memory will live on through the hearts of those who loved him and the many lives he touched with his gentle spirit. He will be remembered with great respect, affection, and gratitude for the joy he brought to his family and community.
