Michael "Mike" Armstrong
Mike Armstrong, 72, of Indianapolis passed away peacefully in his home on March 29, 2026 surrounded by his family and beloved dog Walker.
Mike was born on February 25, 1954 in New Albany, Indiana to Rossiter and Martha "Pendleton" Armstrong. When he was a baby his parents moved to Evansville, Indiana where he grew up. He attended Harrison High School in Evansville and graduated in 1972. He would go on to attend the University of Southern Indiana where he would meet his future wife, Vickie. He graduated with a Bachelor's Degree in Business and was also a member of Alpha Omega PSI fraternity. Mike and Vickie were married on February 2, 1980 and moved to Indianapolis where Mike was offered a job in sales and logistics with a trucking company. The job and move to Indianapolis shaped his career where he would go on to become a successful regional sales manager for a freight expediting company.
In 1985 Mike and Vickie started a family welcoming their twin baby girls, Heather and Lindsey, on December 25. Mike was a strong presence in his daughter's lives, including helping with equipment for every color/winter guard contest throughout Heather and Lindsey's high school career. From helping paint props to rolling out a tarp he was there for it all.
One of Mike's favorite titles to earn was that of Grandpa. He became a beloved and cherished grandpa to Reagan in 2015 and Autumn in 2020.
Mike always had a love for boating from starting out on the Ohio River in Evansville, to eventually having a boat at Lake Monroe where he and his family would spend weekends. At Lake Monroe Mike and Vickie would meet a group of lifelong friends that would introduce Mike to the hobby of motorcycling. That newly found hobby resulted in many memorable trips and good times with friends.
As an avid Indianapolis sports fan, Mike enjoyed attending Colts games, The Indianapolis 500, and the Brickyard 400.
Mike was preceded in death by his parents, Ross and Martha Armstrong. He is survived by his devoted wife, Vickie, two daughters Heather (Nick) Branham, Lindsey (Jason) Morris, granddaughters Reagan and Autumn, step-mother Beverly Armstrong, step siblings Ashley Alexander, Waverlyn (Kurt) Karch, and his faithful companion Walker.
Services to honor Mike will take place on Friday, April 10, 2026 at Indiana Funeral Care Greenwood Chapel located at 2433 East Main Street Greenwood, IN 46143. Visitation will be held from 5:00PM to 7:30PM with service commencing at 7:30PM.
