Melody Ruth Snelson

Melody Ruth Snelson (nee Williamson), 63, of Indianapolis, passed away peacefully with family and friends at her bedside Tuesday, August 2, 2022 at 6:17 pm in Community East Hospital, from Renal Cell Carcinoma (Kidney Cancer).

Melody was born March 13, 1959 in Indianapolis, Indiana to Russell C. and Lillie M. Williamson (nee Wilson). Melody attended Indianapolis public schools graduating from George Washington High school. She married Gary Snelson on September 22, 1984 In Louisville, KY. Melody was an account clerk. She loved working with numbers and did volunteer work for Dress for Success, a Non-profit organization of Indianapolis in 2013.

Survivors include her husband Gary Snelson of Indianapolis, daughter Gwynnavere L. Shaffer (nee Snelson) Cincinnati, OH. Mother Lillie Marsenna Whaley, sisters Ann M. Foley and Mary L. Whitfield of Indianapolis. Melody is also survived by five nephews and nieces, six great nephews and nieces, as well as several aunts, uncles and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her father Russell C. Williamson and Brother Maurice Andrew Williamson.

Interment will be at the Mausoleum in Memorial Park Cemetery 9350 E. Washington Street, Indianapolis, IN 46229. A memorial service and celebration of life will be August 18, 2022 at 3:00 pm.
