Melanie Lynn Grendell

December 19, 1955 — April 19, 2024

Carmel, Indiana

Melanie Lynn (Waddell) Grendell, 68, passed away peacefully on April 19, 2024, with her family at her side. She was born on December 19, 1955, to Richard Garth Waddell and Charlotte Lucille (Faulkner) Waddell in Jeffersonville, IN. She and her husband, Jay Grendell, were married on November 30, 1975.

After completing her education she worked for much of her life as a Veterinary Technician. Melanie will be remembered as a loving wife and mother who found many joys in life. Her avocation as well as her occupation centered around her love of animals. She raised and cared for a wide variety of creatures during her life including breeding National Grand Champion Cornish Rex cats. We believe that she will soon be caring for the animals on a Paradise Earth under God's Kingdom.

Melanie was known by many for her loving and enthusiastic personality, making friends wherever she went. She remained positive despite years of serious health concerns. She became the "mother of the 5000 wing" of her nursing home and treasured all of her neighbors there. Her greatest joy in life was the time she spent with her family, including her husband, her son Brandon Grendell, daughter Jaymi Brooke Horne, son-in-law Lawrence Horne, and grandson Clark Horne. Also, her Mother, three siblings, a Treasured Aunt, and close and caring cousins. A sincere expression of thanks to her to her Sister Teresa and her life-long friend Tanya who each called her everyday; her cousins, Debbie and Jerry who traveled to visit her often. A deep appreciation for her Nurse Tracy who consistently provided above and beyond care which made Melanie's medical challenges endurable. A generous thank you to Amy, who Melanie described as "the best therapist I've ever had." An expression of thanks for the love and unmeasurable support received from our dear friends in innumerable Christian Congregations of Jehovah's Witnesses.
