With deep love and sorrow, we announce Maureen Ann Luedeman, passed away peacefully on Monday, June 23, surrounded by family and love.
Born November 14, 1948, to John “Jack” and Nancy (Scott) Flynn as the third oldest of a lively household of 14 siblings, she learned early the importance of kindness, compassion, and connection—qualities that she carried with her throughout her life. She was preceded in death by her beloved oldest brother, Michael Flynn, and, later, by her oldest son, Greg Luedeman, both of whom she missed dearly.
She was a devoted mother to three children and poured her heart into raising them with gentleness, humor, and strength. Her family was the center of her world.
A lifelong learner, she attended St. Joan of Arc Grade School, Chatard High School, and Indiana University, where she formed cherished, lifelong friendships all along the way. While at I.U., she enjoyed being a member of the Delta Gamma Sorority. Maureen also loved reading and was never far away from her Kindle. Whether she was swimming, running, delighting in a scoop of ice cream by the lake, or volunteering her time at Damar, she lived with quiet joy and deep empathy.
She will be remembered most for her sweet nature, her kind heart, and the way she made everyone feel welcomed and loved. Though we grieve her passing, we celebrate her life—a life well-lived, full of meaning and love.
Her legacy lives on through her children Michael (Erin) Luedeman and Megan Luedeman, her grandchildren Connor, Jacob, Nicholas, Emma, and her great-grandchildren Adelina and Eliza. She leaves behind her siblings Kathy (John) Phillips, Ellen (John) Cornelius, John (Elizabeth) Flynn, Tom (Jody) Flynn, Patrick Flynn, Lawrence (Anna) Flynn, Peggy (Dan) McCowan, Brian Flynn, Sheila (Scott) Sullivan, Kevin (Anna) Flynn, Karen (Brian) Jefferson, Marianne (Dennis) O’Hara, and many nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends who carry her memory in their hearts.
We will gather to remember Maureen on Sunday, July 13th, 2:00 pm, at WRYC. Please dress comfortably for the heat. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her memory to American Cancer Society or Damar Services, Inc.
