Matthew Scott Lutton, 41, of Fishers, Indiana, passed away on June 27, 2025 at Community North Hospital.
He was born in Indianapolis on November 7, 1983 to David and Julie Lutton, who Matthew adored. Matthew told everyone he knew that his father was his hero, and he spoke to his mother frequently. As the youngest child, he liked to jokingly tell people he raised himself. Matthew always made friends easily and deeply cared for all of his family and friends, delighting in watching his friends with their children. Once Matthew loved you, he never stopped. He was always up for an adventure and enjoyed attending concerts, and was an avid reader, having read everything ever written by Stephen King. He enjoyed visiting his family as often as possible, and often spent weekends visiting with his parents and helping with all the major chores around the house. Growing up, Matthew idolized his older brother and always wanted to be around him and his friends. He also adored his big sis and was so very proud of her, and he loved Tom as his bonus brother and Jamie as his bonus sister. He enjoyed bragging about his siblings’ accomplishments and spending time with his furry nieces and nephews.
Matthew graduated from Maconaquah High School in 2002 before studying Business and Education at Indiana State University. He started his career teaching business and technology at Brownsburg High School, and next taught at St. Richard’s Episcopal Elementary School in Indianapolis. While at St. Richard’s, Matthew had the opportunity to travel to France as a chaperone for a class trip. His love of teaching and technology led him to a position with Goodwill Education Initiatives, where he was introduced to Tableau Software. At that point, he became very interested in Tableau and wanted to learn everything he could about it as quickly as possible. Soon after, Matthew became a customer trainer for Tableau, and his dedication quickly led him to being named a Tableau Zen Master. His friendly nature and passion to help others helped him excel as a trainer, and in that role, he traveled all over the world – including to Singapore and Barbados. Matthew enjoyed traveling and particularly loved visiting Seattle and NYC.
Everyone who knew him knew how much he loved golfing and guitars. Matthew enjoyed spending beautiful, and even not so beautiful, days on the golf course with his golf buddies. He spent countless hours researching and refurbishing guitars and other instruments. We could always count on him bringing his guitar to all family gatherings and playing everyone’s favorite songs.
Matthew will always be remembered for his tender heart and caring nature. We’ll always imagine hearing him say “be kind and have a good day friends” one more time. We couldn’t have asked for a better son and brother and will miss him every day. Matthew’s memory will live on in the hearts of all those who loved him.
Matthew was preceded in death by his Paternal Grandparents, Leroy and Wilma Joyce Lutton; his Maternal Grandparents, Clarence and JoAnn Brown; and Uncles, Tony Brown and Timothy Lutton. Matthew is survived by his parents, David and Julie (Brown) Lutton, Wabash, Indiana; sister, Alicia (Thomas) Cripe, Kokomo, Indiana; brother, David (Jamie) Lutton, Noblesville, Indiana; Uncle, Jonathan (Kelly) Lutton, Lafayette, Indiana and Uncle, Rick Brown, Indianapolis, Indiana as well as many beloved cousins and extended family.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the American Diabetes Association would be greatly appreciated.
