Mary Jo (Wilson) Munn, beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and cherished friend, passed away peacefully on August 14, 2026, in Indianapolis, Indiana. She was born on January 15, 1938, in Indianapolis, where she would make her home and leave an indelible mark on those around her throughout her long and meaningful life.

Mary Jo was the treasured daughter of Bernard P. and Rosemary C. (Hermann) Wilson. Raised in the close-knit Fountain Square neighborhood, she grew up with deep roots in her community, drawing upon the values of family, faith, and perseverance that would define her life. Mary Jo graduated from Sacred Heart in 1956. Her formative years in Fountain Square were filled with cherished memories and connections that remained a source of strength and comfort throughout her lifetime.

In 1958, Mary Jo married David Munn. She purchased her first home in Beech Grove, Indiana, where she lovingly raised her four children: Debbie Morgan, Diana Bubar, David Munn, and Dawn Bass. Mary Jo poured her heart into creating a warm and nurturing home, guiding her children with wisdom and kindness.

Mary Jo was also a dedicated and hardworking woman. After 25 years of service, she retired from American Red Ball, where she built many friendships throughout her career.

Family was always at the very center of Mary Jo’s life. She took immense pride and joy in watching her family blossom over the years. She is survived by her children, Debbie Morgan (Jay), Diana Bubar (Thomas), David Munn (Tammy), and Dawn Bass (Glenn). Mary Jo was a loving and attentive grandmother to Aaron Morgan, Darin Munn, Allison Munn, Austin Munn, Danielle Munn, Jordan Davis, and Sydney Bass. Her spirit touched yet another generation as a proud great-grandmother to A.J., Aubrey, Avery, Teddy, Archer, and Nora, each of whom brought her tremendous happiness.

Mary Jo had many interests that brought joy and fun to her life. She loved Elvis, movies, and music and enjoyed playing cards, especially solitaire, as well as Rummikub. She also enjoyed bowling, trying her luck at the slots, sports betting, and get-togethers with friends. Mary Jo loved traveling and attending festivals and craft fairs. She had a special fondness for angels and enjoyed collecting anything that featured them. She was also known for her collection of rings and loved wearing them. Above all else, Mary Jo’s greatest joy was spending time with her family. Nothing meant more to her than being surrounded by the people she loved most.

Mary Jo’s lasting legacy is seen not only in her family’s achievements and character but also in the gentle warmth and unwavering love she shared with them. She leaves behind her devoted children and grandchildren, who will remember her fondly for her wisdom, resilience, and the countless lessons learned by her example.

She was preceded in death by her father, Bernard P. Wilson; her mother, Rosemary C. (Hermann) Wilson; and her beloved sister, Barbara Wethington.

A visitation will be held at St. Jude Catholic Church, 5353 McFarland Road, Indianapolis, Indiana 46227, on Thursday, August 20, 2026, from 8:30 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. A Catholic Mass will follow at 10:00 a.m. at St. Jude Catholic Church. Committal and burial will take place at 11:45 a.m. at Saint Joseph Cemetery, 2446 S. Meridian Street, Indianapolis, Indiana 46225. A Mercy Meal will follow the burial.
