Mary Lou (Stearley) David, 76, of Indianapolis, passed away peacefully at home on February 19, surrounded by her loving family.

Mary was born in Sullivan, Indiana, to Thomas and Ruth (Bennett) Stearley. From an early age, she carried the strong spirit that would define her life — she was stubborn in the best way, fiercely loving, endlessly giving, and deeply understanding. Her laughter, quick wit, and steady strength were gifts to everyone who knew her.

On January 1, 1968, she married the love of her life, George A. David. Together they built a life rooted in devotion and family, sharing 51 years of marriage before his passing. Their home was a place of warmth, resilience, and unconditional love.

Mary wore many hats throughout her life. She worked at various places over the years, including alongside close friends at H & H Sewing and at a local salon. But perhaps her most meaningful work was at home — as a devoted stay-at-home mother and a tireless advocate for her deaf children. She gave her heart fully to her family, always standing strong for them and ensuring they had every opportunity to thrive.

She found joy in life’s simple and beautiful things — sewing, drawing, gardening, riding dirt bikes, camping under the open sky, and dancing whenever she could. Her hands were rarely still, always creating something, tending something, or caring for someone.

Mary is survived by her children, Robert (Melissa) David, Tracey (Caleb) McCauley, Julie (Jeremy) Butler-Hayes, and Natalie David; 13 cherished grandchildren- including her granddaughter, Andrea Lynn David, whom Mary and George lovingly raised as their own; 15 beloved great-grandchildren; seven sisters and one brother.

She was preceded in death by her husband, George A. David; her parents, Thomas and Ruth (Bennett) Stearley; her sister, Betty Robbins; and her great-granddaughter, Victoria Butler.

Mary's legacy is one of fierce love, quiet strength, and unwavering dedication to family. She leaves behind a home Forever marked by her warmth and generations who will carry forward her resilience, humor, and heart. She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered always.
