Martha Sue Wachtstetter

December 16, 1956 — September 6, 2024

Indianapolis

Martha Sue Wachtstetter, 67, Indianapolis, passed away with her loved ones by her side on Friday, September 6, 2024. She was born on December 16, 1956 in Indianapolis, IN, to the late Charles Carrigg and Phyllis (Ludlow) Carrigg, and was one of five daughters.

After completing her education, Martha worked for much of her life in retail. She later married the love of her life, Daniel Wachtstetter, and they spent many years by each other’s sides, raising their family and watching their children and then grandchildren grow, prior to his passing in 2023.

Martha was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend to many, who also had many joys in life. She was an artist, who loved working with ceramics and had done so for many years. She enjoyed the history channel, especially sci-fi and mystery shows and could often be found with them on the television when guests stopped in.

She loved animals, especially her four dogs, Tigger, Izzy, Roscoe, and Buddy, who preceded her in passing. Martha was also a wonderful cook, and she looked forward to her time with her sisters, whom she was very close to. Her greatest joy in life was the time that she spent with her family, who will all miss her very much.

Martha is survived by her son James Cooper (Cynthia), sisters Carol Reid, Phyllis Tjart (John), Laura Thommen (John), and Anna Ludlow (Clark). Seven grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Daniel Wachtstetter; parents, Charles Carrigg and Phyllis Carrigg; as well as her daughters, Monica Holloway, and Tabatha Cooper.

Family and friends are welcome for a memorial service in celebration of Martha’s life on Wednesday, September 18, 2024 from 6:00pm – 8:00pm at Indiana Funeral Care, 8151 Allisonville Rd., Indianapolis, IN 46250.
