Mark Allen Coomer, 64, of Shelbyville, Indiana, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Wednesday, June 11, 2025. Born on Thursday, May 11, 1961, in Indianapolis, Indiana, Mark grew up in the Indianapolis area and made Shelbyville his home in 1996.
A painter by trade and a man of many abilities, Mark was known for wearing many hats, not just professionally, but in all aspects of life. Whether working with his hands, serving others, or providing for his family, he approached everything with great strength and deep devotion.
Mark’s greatest passion was his faith in God and the promise of eternal life through Jesus Christ. He faithfully served at Lighthouse Baptist Church. He found joy in the simple, meaningful things — gardening, fishing, hunting, collecting western wear such as boots, hats, and handcrafted walking sticks. Mark was ready to lend a hand whenever it was needed. Above all, he was a protector and provider, always making sure his loved ones were cared for in any way he could.
Mark is survived by his devoted wife Tamara Jo Coomer of almost 40 years. His daughters Melissa Meredith-Miller (Kevin), Sasha Jo Esters (Eric), and Cassandra Burgess (Joey). His grandchildren Lucille, Prentiss, Dean Allen, Raylee Jo, Scarlett, Emery, and numerous grown grandchildren. His brothers, Michael, Kenny, and Scotty. His mother-in-law, Virginia Templeton. Lots of extended family, his church family, and many friends who will remember his faith, kindness, and generosity. Preceded in death by his parents Billy Ray and Savannah Kay Coomer, father-in-law Thomas Templeton and nephews Tommy Lee and Christopher Scott Coomer.
Mark would want everyone to know that it’s never too late through faith in Jesus Christ. Your past can be forgiven and your future redeemed.
