Marilyn Faye Shaw

Marilyn Faye Shaw of Indianapolis, IN presently residing in Franklin IN, passed away peacefully October 16, 2026, surrounded by her loving family at the age of 81.

Marilyn was born in Indianapolis on August 17, 1945, to the late Cecil Lloyd and Ella (Moulder) Lloyd. She was the youngest of nine children. Her family moved to Scottsville, Kentucky where she spent her childhood.

As a young woman, she returned to Indianapolis. There she married and divorced, producing a son, Jimmy G. Spears. In 1964 she went on a blind date where she met the love of her life, Don H. Shaw. They married the next year on June 11, 1965, in Indianapolis. They were married for 54 years.

Marilyn attended Indiana Business College after obtaining her GED and was chosen to be on the cover of the promotional material for the school. She worked full time for many years as a machine operator for Lau Industries. After retiring from Lau Industries, she learned Health Care medical coding and worked in that field for a time, before retiring full time.

Marilyn had a taste for bold colors and designs which highlighted her sense of uniqueness. She was always dressed in her favorite colors of red, purple, or green and bold designs. They went beautifully with her red auburn hair and green eyes.

Marilyn enjoyed shopping, collecting mystical creatures such as wizards, angels, and dragons, and traveling around back-roads on vacation with her family. She loved Stephen King novels and spent her time reading them. She also had an interest in poetry and collected many poems from friends and relatives.

Although cooking was something she had to learn on her own long after most already knew, everyone loved her banana pudding, sage dressing, potato soup, as well as her biscuits and sausage gravy.

She and Don would always cook a huge and generous Thanksgiving and Christmas feast and share their table with family and friends.

Marilyn is survived by children Shauna (Shaw) Weston (Anthony), Shannon L. Shaw, Sheldon S. Shaw (Kim), Misty A. Slentz (Ken),

She is preceded in death by Don Harry Shaw, Jimmy Spears, (Dawn), Amber Spears and all 8 of her brothers and sisters.

Marilyn has many grandchildren and great-grandchildren and enjoyed providing in any way she could for them.

Cremation has been entrusted to Indiana Funeral Care, Greenwood, Indiana and a private celebration of life will be held at a later date.
