Maria Asuncion Perez

Maria Asuncion Perez passed away peacefully on Tuesday, February 24, 2026 leaving behind a legacy of love, strength, and unwavering devotion to her family.

She was born December 20, 1943 in San Cayetano, Colombia and immigrated to New York City in 1968.

Whether through a shared meal or a quiet act of kindness, she showed her love in ways both big and small.

Family was the center of Maria’s world. She was a devoted mother, grandmother, sister, and friend.

Her guidance, wisdom, and steady presence shaped the lives of those fortunate enough to know her. She was a small but mighty central figure in offering her family comfort during life’s most difficult moments.

Maria will be remembered for her resilience, her laughter, and the deep love she carried for those around her. Her memory will live on in through her recipes that became traditions, the stories she shared, and the countless lives she touched.

She is survived by her husband, Lucas, her two sons Oscar (Annie) and Adrian (Eliza), and her grandchildren Miranda, Natalie (Joe), Sarina (Oscar), Arden (Grant), Miles, Ethan, Everett, and her Colombian family and friends, who will cherish her memory forever

A private celebration of Maria’s life has been held, per her wishes. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Alzheimer’s Association in memory of Maria.
