It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Maria Louise Jones, age 23, on November 10, 2025.
Maria was born in Thane, Maharashtra, India, on February 20, 2002. She was brought to the United States and adopted by the Jones family in 2004.
Maria was born with sickle cell disease and, in her final year, bravely faced gastric cancer along with numerous other health challenges, yet she never let her illnesses define who she was. She graduated from Centerville-Abington High School in 2020. She later earned a certificate in phlebotomy from Ivy Tech. Maria dreamed of becoming a nurse so she could care for patients like herself, who required frequent blood work, though her health challenges prevented her from fully pursuing that goal.
Above all, Maria considered her greatest accomplishment to be her daughter, Kira, who was her entire world.
Maria is survived by her daughter, Kira Louise; Dr. Tom and Hayley Ringenberg, whom she lovingly considered her mom and dad; her siblings, Alyssa (Jay) Sharma, Tyleishia Williams, Josh (Bailey) Smith, Brittany (John) Johnson, Brandon (Annie) Jones, Daniel (Asheton) Jones and her best friend, Elizabeth Lofton (affectionately known as Liz). She is also survived by a loving circle of extended family and friends, including many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins (special mention to Carla Bowen, Courtney Mathews & Christine Hunter) who will forever cherish her memory.
Maria was preceded in death by her grandparents, Charles (Denny) & Karen Jones.
The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to Gentiva Hospice for their compassionate care and support during Maria’s final days.
A private memorial service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to her daughter’s GoFundMe at https://tinyurl.com/Kira2025 or donate in her name to the Sickle Cell Foundation.
