Luther Lucas, affectionately known as "Ray", a cherished husband, brother, uncle, and friend, passed away peacefully on October27, 2024, in Greenwood, Indiana, at the age of 81. Born on November 10, 1942, in Beech Grove, Indiana, Luther's journey through life was marked by his dedication to family, his career, and his military service.
Luther retired from Ford Motor Company in 1996, where he served diligently as a Plant Liaison. His career was characterized by his unwavering commitment to his work and his colleagues, earning him respect and admiration from those who knew him.
As an Air Force Veteran, Luther exhibited courage and dedication during his service to his country. His military background instilled in him a sense of duty and discipline that he carried throughout his life.
Beyond his professional pursuits, Luther was a long-time member of the Shrine, reflecting his commitment to community service and fellowship. He enjoyed connecting with others and was known for his warm smile and welcoming demeanor.
Luther is survived by his beloved wife, Martha (Isenberg) Lucas, and his twin sister, Effie Faye Basler. He also leaves behind many nieces and nephews who will fondly remember him for the love and guidance he so generously offered.
Luther is preceded in death by his parents, Mattie (Calvert) Lucas and Edsil Lucas, and his siblings: Stanley Lucas, Myra Smiley, Paul Lucas, Charlotte Bruce, and Jerry Lucas. Each of these individuals played a significant role in his life and will be remembered alongside him.
Luther Lucas’s legacy will endure in the hearts of his family and friends, who will forever cherish the memories they created together. His dedication to his loved ones and his community will serve as an enduring reminder of a life well-lived.
