“We’re all just passing time and occupy our chair very briefly.”
- John Hurt
Louise Marjorie Castleberry Newton, born Louise Marjorie Johnson on September 18, 1936, in Sycamore, Illinois, passed peacefully from this life on Wednesday, May 13, 2026, at the age of 89, surrounded by love in Whiteland, Indiana.
In 1981, Louise moved to Texas, where she spent 34 meaningful years before settling in Indiana in 2015.
Louise was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great‑grandmother, and friend. She believed that our time on earth is a gift meant to be shared with the people we love, and she lived that truth wholeheartedly. She was a familiar and cherished presence wherever she served—whether as a PTA room mother, a dedicated hospital volunteer, or an enthusiastic participant in her churches and their theater productions.
At home, music filled her rooms, books waited on her favorite chair, and her table was always ready for a game of cards or a board game with her children or grandchildren. She treasured her family and friends deeply and found joy in every simple moment spent together.
Louise was preceded in death by her husbands, Raymond F. Castleberry (July 1989) and Billy L. Newton (July 2015); her daughter‑in‑law, Amy Castleberry (Muisenga); and two precious little ones who went ahead to welcome her in heaven, Angel Lee and Robin Rae.
She is survived by her four children and their families: Michael Castleberry and his wife, Mary Ellen; Christopher Castleberry and his wife, Melanie; Joy Williams and her husband, Keith; and Jaime Castleberry; her grandchildren, Colin, Ryan, Lauren, Joel, Kyla, Zachary, and Anna Castleberry; Joshua Williams and his wife, Andrea; Caleb Williams; Grace Williams; and Timothy Williams and his wife, Lauren. She was especially blessed to know the joy of her great-grandson, Elias, son of Timothy and Lauren. She is also survived by her stepchild, Stan, along with his wife and their new baby and by her step‑grandchild, Morgan.
She occupied her chair beautifully.
