Louis F. Kerr

November 2, 1968 — October 7, 2023

Indianapolis

Louis Frank Kerr, Jr. 53 of Indianapolis, IN. passed away on Sunday, October 7, 2023. He was born to the late Louis Frank Kerr, Sr., and Laura Hazelwood Kerr on November 2, 1968. Louis was beloved by his parents and loved them even more.

He was the youngest child of 6 siblings and because of the age disparity he was like an only child.  If you knew Louis, you would know that he possessed a love for family unity and a strong faith in God. He confessed his faith in God at a young age (St. Jon of Arc Catholic School) and was baptized in his mid-thirties as a Baptist. He had a passion for learning and sharing information with others. Louis was loyal to his friends to the end. His struggles in life never kept him from trying to do better.  He was 30 years old before he married Jacqueline Thomas Kerr (1999), and they had his only child, Onaleasha Kerr, on January 6, 2000. Louis’ smile and posture was his signature. He could light up a room. To his sisters, he was beloved, and it didn’t matter where or when he called – they were his support system. The youngest sister (Patricia aka Peeky) was his absolute beloved sibling. The feelings were mutual, and the world knew it. Louis’ lifestyle was one that most people would not have survived, and his response to that was “Only GOD” and “Only GOD would judge him.” Many debilitating injuries and accidents with quick recovery were proof of GOD’s hands on him. It didn’t matter if you were visiting him at his home, family gatherings, just hanging out – Louis loved spending time with his family and friends. There was a time that he worked with one of his siblings at Transitional Assistance Services as a safety monitor that provided services to at-risk youth. He excelled in sharing life stories to encourage youth to avoid issues that could cause negative life-changing results. The youth enjoyed his honesty and he often spoke about those opportunities being God’s gift to him to give back. He was a man that believed The Lord was his Salvation, and only by GOD’s Grace – he was Saved. He was a compassionate loving person that will be greatly missed by his daughter, siblings, family, and friends.

Louis is survived by his daughter; Onaleasha R. Kerr, siblings; Alice (Loraine) Phillips, Clarence H. Cartwright (Fanny), Kathryn Bacon, Linda Lipscomb (Robert), Patricia Mosley, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family and friends.
