Linda Jean Yates

Linda Jean Yates, 78, went to be with the Lord on August 12, 2025. She was born to the late Russell & Margaret (Hayden) Bolander on June 16, 1947, in Indianapolis, IN.

Linda grew up in the Castleton area and chose Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior 47 years ago, faithfully serving Him ever since. She was a devoted member of Emmanuel Temple Apostolic Church for many decades, where her faith remained her foundation.

Linda was a caretaker at heart, lovingly helping to raise many of her grandchildren. Her family fondly remembers her for her “world’s best” grilled cheese sandwiches and the warmth she brought into every home she entered. She leaves behind her dearest friends, Cindi (Bentley) Murphy and Ora B. Markey, with whom she shared many cherished memories.

Affectionately known as Grammie, Linda loved deeply and was deeply loved in return. With a heart of gold, she always put her best foot forward in everything she did. Her legacy of faith, love, and devotion will continue to live on in the hearts of her family and all who knew her.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Randall L. Yates, and her brother Ronald Bolander. She is survived by her children: Cindi (Bill) Bolinger, Brittany (Barrington) Peterson, Brieanne Yates, Joshua Yates, Leah (Miguel) Reyes, and Kendra Yates. She was also dearly loved by 15 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren (1 more on the way!), and 1 great-great-granddaughter.

Funeral service is Saturday August 23, 2025 at Bethesda Temple Apostolic Church at 2147 W. 63rd Street, Indianapolis, IN 46260. Visitation is at 10:00 with service at 11:00. Burial will follow at Washington Park North Cemetery, 2702 Kessler Blvd W Drive, Indianapolis, IN 46228.
