Linda Sue McClure passed away peacefully in her home on October 24, 2026. Sue was born on July 16, 1947. She was 79 years old.
Sue graduated from Southwood High School in Wabash, IN in 1965 and immediately went on to pursue her degree in nursing at Indiana Central College in Indianapolis where she graduated in 1967. She had a long career as a caring nurse primarily in the Operating Room starting early on with Community Hospital but spending most of her career with Methodist Hospital and most recently at the Eagle Highlands Surgery Center where she retired in 2012.
Sue loved her family and friends beyond measure. Anyone that spent more than just a couple of minutes in her home could quicky summarize her life and what was most important to Sue. Her walls are adorned with numerous framed photographs spanning decades of both friends and family displaying memories that would take months to share individually. She was a committed aunt to many nieces and nephews which extended even further to their many friends. She loved spending time with her family and over the years enjoyed taking them to see some of the amazing destinations in Indianapolis including the Indianapolis Zoo, Children’s Museum and Eiteljorg Museum. She loved mailing cards and never missed a birthday. Sue’s door was always open to anyone at any time. She loved meeting new people and making new friends. Friendship was important to Sue, and she enjoyed talking about her most notable memories with family and friends as she was known for her ability to recall even the slightest details. While all of Sue’s friendships were important to her, she was keenly committed to her closest friends making a point to stay in close contact and to never missing any of their traditional events that they held dear.
Sue loved the mountains, the ocean and the natural world overall. Her love for wildlife and the outdoors no doubt started with her rural childhood beginnings where Sue and her siblings spent much of their time outside interacting with each other in a natural environment. Throughout her life, she frequently spent time with her family and friends at Mississenewa Reservoir, lake cottage in northern Indiana, turtle fries, birthday parties, camping, fishing and family gardening. No matter what the event, it was always a good time and Sue was a big part of ensuring it was!
Sue is survived by her two sisters, Debbie Carmack and Beverly Richards and her many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents, Delbert and Nina McClure, brother, Micheal McClure, nephew, Scotty and great-niece, Brooklyn.
Graveside service will be held on Saturday, November 21 at 1pm at the Mississinewa Cemetery, 8632 IN-13, Wabash, IN. 46992. A Life Loved and Life Lived remembrance service will be held immediately afterward at 1:30pm at the Somerset Community Building, 1 2nd St., Somerset, IN 46984
