Linda Kay Matthias

April 11, 1948 — February 26, 2024

Indianapolis

Linda Kay Kutch-King-Wing-Hornbrook-Matthias, 75 of Mooresville, IN passed away Monday, February 26, 2024 at Ascension St. Vincent- Indianapolis. She was born in Indianapolis on April 11, 1948 to her late parents, Donald W. Kutch and Virgina “Cecile” (Huffman) Kutch.

Linda worked at RCI for many years allowing her to travel the world, from Amsterdam to New Zealand. Linda spread her purple magic all across the world. They say there is no place like home, so eventually Linda got into Real Estate. She was a well-known realtor for Crossman Homes and she also owned real estate. It was as a landlord that Linda gained the freedom of retirement when she rented a house to what would later become a well-known arsonist. The payout allowed Linda to retire, but she never settled down- always on the go and up for adventure, Linda stayed active in her retirement by traveling, camping, gardening, and when it was too difficult to garden outside, Linda began growing indoors. Linda loved plants and had some that were more than 30 years old. She had spices in her pantry much older than that. She even worked part-time for years at Ivy Tech Community College in Mooresville as an Academic Support Associate. Linda was a member of the Lothlorien Nature Sanctuary, Grannies for Grass, and the Mooresville Lions Club where she emphasized the importance of serving the community and doing so alongside your family.

When it comes to her spiritual life she believed in God’s power and knew it was abundant. Linda grew up and loved her time at Speedway Christian Church and even in her final days, she spoke of Jesus. She was also a student in A Course in Miracles and once walked in on Marianne Williamson going to the bathroom in Chicago, and she didn’t leave. She shook her hand and told her how much she loved her. Linda shared her love at Lothlorien, random Quaker Meetings, she was even caught in Adoration at a beautiful Archabbey, and she danced at the burial site of a Gypsy Queen. Her love was powerful, and it shined brightly on her family. It is her love and her smile they will miss the most.

Linda was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, David; and her partner in love, Joe.  She is survived by her brother, Don (Nancy) of Florida; Joe's sons, Matthew of Mooresville, Eric of Indianapolis; and Mary of Bedford, IN, whom she loved like a sister.

Linda became a strong advocate for dogs and her support for many pet groups which is where you can contribute in her name - Indy Humane, 7929 Michigan Rd. Indianapolis, IN 46268 or to the Mooresville Lions Club, 4 E Harrison St., Mooresville, IN 46158.

A Hootenanny will be held in her honor on April 20th at “the River” for those who know. More details will be given through invitation.

Her final words were NannooNannoo. She was never one to rest, so her family doubts she will be resting now, so may she party in peace.
