Lela Jo Hemingway

Lela Jo Hemingway 95 passed away peacefully at home on July 7, 2026 surrounded by her family.

Born on June 27, 1931 in Wichita Kansas, she was the beloved wife of Loren (Hank) Hemingway for over 72 years until his passing in 2024. Her faith guided her life and she was known for her kindness, strength, resilience and devotion to her family. She enjoyed cooking, gardening, playing spinner, euchre, fishing and spending time with her family and friends. She was a member of St. Bartholomew Catholic Church in Columbus, IN until they moved to Avon, IN in 2019.

She is survived by her daughters Lori (Regan) Roberts, and Cari Adams, Grandchildren Ciara Choudhary, Taylor (JD) Thomas, Riley (Olivia) Roberts, and Luke Roberts, Great grandchildren Hayden, Parker, Hollyn and Jamie. She was proceeded in death by her husband Loren Hemingway and son Michael Hemingway.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Saturday July 25, 2026 at 11am at Our Shepherd Lutheran Church in Avon, IN. She will be deeply missed, forever loved, and never forgotten.
