Lawrence Everett Johnson Jr., affectionately known as “Larry,” was born on November 25, 1957, in Indianapolis. He passed away on April 4, 2026.

Larry was a beloved figure in his neighborhood known for his kindness, dedication, and strong work ethic and was known as the neighborhood mechanic. After graduating from Crispus Attucks High School, he worked at Western Electric before serving in the United States Army. His military service took him briefly to Germany, and he remained a steadfast resident of Indianapolis.

In addition to his many talents, Larry was a great baker, carrying on and perfecting his parents’ baking skills. He was especially known for his cakes, cookies, and pies, which brought joy to family and friends. Larry was also remembered for his barbecue and for the last holidays he spent surrounded by family and friends.

Larry was preceded in death by his parents, Bertha Mae (Yankee) Johnson and Lawrence Everett Johnson Sr.; his sister, Freda Mae Johnson; and his son, Lawrence Everett Johnson III. He is survived by his son, Marcus and Kimberly Johnson and their children; granddaughter, Cherdalle Elaine Johnson; daughter, Cynthia James, Valerie Young; his sister, Anne Marie Williams; Great Aunt Jayne Flynn; nieces Tanta Lynn Williams, Pamela Lynn, Kimberly Anne ; nephews George Adams, Anthony Wayne, Michael Howard; and a host of grandchildren, great-nieces, and nephews, and many other family members who loved him dearly.

The family would like to thank everyone who reached out, loved, and prayed for them. We ask you to go in peace and keep his memory alive.

Larry’s life will be celebrated at a memorial service on Monday, May 4, 2026, at Indiana Funeral Care North, 8151 Allisonville Road, Indianapolis, at 10:00 a.m.
