Laurene Valentine

Laurene ‘Queen B’ Valentine, 90, of Franklin, Tennessee passed away on January 24, 2022 in Indianapolis, Indiana to Robert and Lillie Gatewood-Kinnard.

She accepted Jesus Christ at an early age. She was a dedicated Diva and worked as the Oprah of sewing at Atlas Coverall Supply. Her hobbies included listening to music, playing cards, board games, and gardening.

Laurene leaves to cherish her memory of her children: Gwendolyn (Peck) Sherrill (George), Troy and Maryna (Bowie) Nukes, and Veda Ann Valentine; special friends: Diane Murphy and Peggy; and a host of Big Mama’s grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nephews, nieces, and an extended number of family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her sons: Gregory Davis and Stacy Peck; great-grandson Jason Sherrill; sisters: Pauline Gooch Kinnard, Elsie Louise Kinnard, Lucy Mae Kinnard, Bessie (Kinnard) Hill, Elsie Kinnard, and Lester (Kinnard) Burch; brothers: Roger Kinnard, Robert Lee Kinnard, William Chester Kinnard, James Kinnard, and Arthur Kinnard.

A funeral service will be held on Friday, March 4, 2022 at 12 P.M. Visitation will be from 10:00 A.M. to 12:00 P.M. at Indiana Funeral Care, 8151 Allisonville Road Indianapolis, IN 46250. Burial to follow at Sutherland Park Cemetery.
