Larry Wayne Edwards was born on August 4, 1943, in Bloomington, Indiana. He passed away peacefully on January 25, 2026, at Southpointe Nursing Home, leaving behind a legacy of service and dedication.
Larry dedicated 25 years of his life to the U.S. Army, where he achieved the status of a proud veteran. Upon his retirement from military service, he continued to serve his community by working with the U.S. Postal Service, further exemplifying his commitment to public service.In addition to his professional accomplishments, Larry was an active member of his community. He was a lifetime member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) and played an integral role in the American Legion. His love for the outdoors was evident in his passion for fishing, a pastime that brought him joy and relaxation.
Larry is survived by his beloved wife of 62 years Linda Edwards; daughter, Mickie (Floyd) Overman; his sons, John (Lisa) Edwards and Gary (Jennifer) Edwards; and his cherished grandchildren, Stefanie, Evelyn, Andrea, Elliot, Lauren, Sam, Owen, and Clara. He also enjoyed the special bonds he formed with his great-grandchildren, Lana, Jonathon, Harold, and Jimmy, as well as his great-great-grandchild, Axel. Larry is also survived by his sisters Sharon Nichols and Edie Adams, and brother Bert Edwards.
Larry was preceded in death by his parents, Kenneth Edwards and Opal (Tabor) Edwards, who nurtured his strong values and principles.
A visitation honoring Larry’s life will take place on March 9, 2026, from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM, followed by a memorial service at 1:00 PM at Indiana Funeral Care Greenwood Chapel, located at 2433 E. Main St., Greenwood, Indiana, 46143.
Larry Wayne Edwards will be remembered not only for his dedication to his country and community but also for the love he shared with his family. His legacy will continue to inspire those who knew him, highlighting the importance of service, family, and the simple joys in life.
