Listen to Obituary

Lance A Landis was born to Richard “Dick” and Joyce Landis in Troy, Ohio on May 4th, 1959. After a childhood full of football and car tinkering, the family moved to Carmel, Indiana where he graduated high school in May of 1978.

After high school, Lance demonstrated what would become a defining characteristic of his life - his deep and abiding patriotism and love for his country - by enlisting in the United States Marine Corps. He was able to build off of his skills as a mechanic and become a heavy line mechanic for the Corps.

While serving, he met and married his forever love, Naomi. They had their first daughter in Oceanside, California, while both serving their country as Marines.

After discharge from the Marine Corps, the family moved back to Indiana where his hard work as an automotive mechanic enabled him to faithfully provide for his family through many years.

Through the years, the family was glad to welcome another daughter. After retiring from the mechanic life, Lance was able to pursue a new passion in metal work and knife making. This creative outlet allowed him to craft many incredibly high quality chefs knives, and other tools.

Lance laid aside his physical body for a heavenly one on September 16, 2026 after battling cancer of the brain. He expressed how thankful he was for one LtCol in the Marine Corps who spoke with him about how he could know Jesus Christ as his personal Savior. Having accepted Christ's sacrifice on the cross for his sin, Lance had assurance that his sin debt was covered and forgiven. He now stands right with God, with no sin separating him and his Savior. You too, can full assurance of your right relationship with God. Lance expressed specifically that the Good News of Jesus be presented in his funeral, so that his loved ones can know they can go to heaven, and not be separated from God for eternity in hell.

Romans 3:23 - All have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.

Romans 6:23 - For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.

John 3:16 - For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.

Romans 10:13 - …everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.

1 John 5:13 - I write these things to you who believe in the name of the Son of God, that you may know that you have eternal life.

Lance is preceded in death by his parents Richard “Dick” and Joyce Landis.

Lance is survived by his wife Naomi; daughters Krista (Luke) Mielke, Starla (Kyle) Blankenship; siblings Layne Landis, Lisa (Bill) Wilber, Leslie (Eric) Walls; and grandchildren Micah and Gideon Mielke
