Kim Whitlow, a devoted wife, loving mother, cherished mawmaw, and treasured friend, passed away peacefully on May 29, 2026, in Indianapolis, Indiana, following sudden medical complications, surrounded by her family and loved ones. Born on February 15, 1957, in Indianapolis, she embodied warmth, kindness, and an unwavering spirit that touched the lives of all who knew her.
Kim’s life was marked by dedication and heartfelt commitment, both in her personal and professional endeavors. She graduated from high school and pursued some college classes in accounting, a reflection of her keen intellect and desire for learning. For 25 years, Kim served faithfully as a bank teller, where she was known for her attentive service and friendly demeanor, enriching her community with every interaction.
Her greatest joy stemmed from her family and the profound relationships she nurtured throughout her lifetime. Kim was happily married to the love of her life, John Whitlow, for over 46 years. Together, they built a strong and loving partnership that was the cornerstone of her life. She was a proud and caring mother to her children, Josh (Mary) Whitlow and Jatonna (Josh) Perry, who carried forward her legacy of love and strength. As a mawmaw, she delighted in her grandchildren—Bryce, Kailynne, Carlee, and Taytum—whom she adored and cherished deeply. Kim’s affection extended beyond her immediate family to her brothers Gene Johnson and Dale Guinn.
She is remembered with poignant fondness and respect by those who predeceased her: her father Harold Johnson, mother Mickie (Guinn) Johnson, sister Janie Powers, brother Brian Johnson, as well as her in-laws Sherman and Carolyn Whitlow.
Kim’s personality shone brightly in her interests and hobbies. She devoted much joy to creating personalized cookbooks for family and friends, a testament to her generous and thoughtful nature. Furthermore, Kim harbored a unique passion for collecting pig figurines and pictures, delighting in the charm and whimsy of anything pig-related, a hobby that brought smiles and a sense of light-heartedness to her and those around her.
The community is invited to honor Kim Whitlow’s memory through a series of services on June 5, 2026. Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Indiana Funeral Care - Greenwood Chapel, located at 2433 E. Main St., Greenwood, IN 46143. A funeral service will follow at 1:00 p.m. at the same venue. Later in the afternoon, a graveside service will take place at 3:00 p.m. at Nebo Memorial Park Cemetery, 3295 IN-252, Martinsville, IN 46151.
Kim Whitlow's life was a vibrant tapestry of love, dedication, and joy. Her presence enriched the hearts of many, and her legacy endures through the family and friends who cherished her. As we remember her, we hold close the warmth of her spirit and the love she so generously shared with all who had the privilege of knowing her.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests contributions be made toward a memorial headstone fund in Kim's honor.
