Kevin "Lala" Jay Doughty

Kevin “Lala” Jay Doughty, 72, born October 2, 1953, in Indianapolis to Nancy Jane and John Doughty, passed away peacefully the morning of February 8, 2026, at Wellbrooke of Avon following a brief illness.

Kevin was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend whose life was rooted in family, community, and service. He is survived by his loving wife, Joan Rae (Poore) Doughty; his sons, Kevin Matthew “Matt” Doughty and his wife Shannon of Avon, and Mark Alan Doughty of Indianapolis; and his ten cherished grandchildren: Tierra, Savannah, Christopher, Zane, Xavier, Danielle, Wrigley, Jasmien, Dallas, and Heaven. 
He also leaves behind one treasured great-granddaughter, Nora’Rai Doughty, along with four brothers and two sisters.He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Donald “Fred” Doughty.Kevin dedicated 25 years of his life to the South Wayne Recreation Association, where he served as former President and was a beloved coach to thousands of friends, neighbors, and especially his children, grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. His impact on the community was lasting, and his stories, laughter, and mentorship will be remembered by generations. He also took pride in working for many years as at a local heating and air conditioning company alongside his brother, Fred.The family takes comfort in believing Kevin has been joyfully reunited with those who went before him, undoubtedly sharing and making up embellished stories on his porch in the sky.

 A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, February 22, 2026, from 2:00–4:00 p.m., with a memorial service beginning at 4:00 p.m. at the Mooresville Lions Club, 4 E. Harrison Street, Mooresville, Indiana 46158.
