Kenneth Ray Stewart, known affectionately as Ken, passed away on March 24, 2026, in Greenwood, Indiana. Born on July 2, 1959, in Pennington Gap, Virginia, Ken lived a life marked by skill, dedication, and a warm spirit that touched many.

A graduate of Emmerich Manual High School, Ken took pride in his work as an auto body technician, a career he pursued for over 30 years. His hands were not only skilled in his trade but also gifted in craftsmanship, capable of building anything he set his mind to. Ken’s passion extended beyond his profession; he refurbished old cars and owned several Hot Rods, preserving the history and beauty of classic automobiles.

Ken’s love of life was evident in his many interests and hobbies. He enjoyed shooting pool, building and flying radio-controlled airplanes, and had a fondness for watching old western films. An avid follower of politics, he engaged thoughtfully with current events. Those close to him admired not only his talents but also the warmth and humor he shared, especially with small children, whom he loved to tease gently in his unique, affectionate way. He was also known for his exceptional cooking, an art in which he took great joy and pride.

His dedication to country was demonstrated through his service in the United States Army for two years, during which he was stationed mainly in Germany. This period of his life reflected his sense of duty and commitment.

Ken was blessed to share 34 years with his devoted companion, Penny Hatfield, who survives him along with his brother, Cody (Vickie) Stewart; sister, Elaine (Ronnie) Carmack; stepdaughter, Nettie (Mike) Beckett; and several nieces, nephews, as well as great nieces and great nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Charles Patrick Stewart; mother, Barbara Jean (Cooper) Stewart; and stepson, Don Hatfield.
