Kenneth W. Nierman, 82, of Greenwood, Indiana, passed away on Friday, April 3, 2026.

Born to William and Elisabeth Nierman, Ken was a proud graduate of Southport High School. He continued his education at Ball State University, earning both his Bachelor's and Master's degrees, and later obtained his Educational Specialist (EdS) degree from Indiana University.

Ken dedicated his life to education, serving students and families at Griffith Community Schools and Lake Ridge School before spending many meaningful years at Greenwood Community Schools. Throughout his career, he was a teacher, coach, and assistant principal, making a lasting impact on countless young lives. Ken retired in 2005 after a long and fulfilling career in education. 

In addition to his parents, Ken was preceded in death by his sister, Carolyn Bergmann, and his brother, Ronnie Nierman.

On March 25, 1967, Ken married the love of his life, Jane Nierman. Together they built a beautiful life centered on family and recently celebrated their 59th wedding anniversary.

He is survived by his devoted wife, Jane Nierman; his three children, Chad (Allie) Nierman, Jacob Nierman, and Libby (Brian) Barrett; his four cherished grandchildren, Jared Davis, Henry Barrett, Vincent Nierman, and Evelyn Barrett;and his beloved great-grandson, Hayes Davis.

Ken found his greatest joy in his family. He loved attending his grandchildren's activities and sporting events, faithfully cheering them on. He enjoyed keeping up with television shows alongside Jane, treasured his lunch outings with friends, looked forward to Mr. Whitson's garage parties, and remained a loyal fan of the Chicago Bears.

Ken will be remembered for his dedication to education, his steady presence, and his deep love for his family. He will be missed dearly by his friends and family
