Kenneth R. Mead, age 56, passed away peacefully on May 11, 2026. Formerly of Lancaster and a longtime resident of Illinois, Kenneth was a caring man, a gentle soul, and someone whose kindness touched all who knew him.

Kenneth leaves behind his devoted and loving wife, Barbra Mead. Kenneth and Barbra first met while he was living in California and she was living in Illinois. In 2000, Kenneth made the life-changing decision to leave California and move to Illinois to be with her. Together they shared 26 loving years filled with devotion, companionship, and unconditional love. They were united in marriage on September 23, 2017, and recently made their home in Indiana two years ago.

He was the loving son of Sandra Mead and the late Kenneth Mead Sr. He also leaves to cherish his memory his beloved children, Travis (Krystle) DeLisle, Julia (Christian) Dillon, and Ryan DeLisle. Kenneth was a proud and loving grandfather to Karlee DeLisle, Travis William DeLisle Jr., Christian Dillon III, and Lillian Dillon.

Kenneth was also the adored godfather of Megan Manes; dear brother of Jack (Mona) Mead; and a cherished uncle, nephew, cousin, and friend to many extended family members and loved ones.

Those who knew Kenneth will remember him most for his empathy, gentleness, and deeply caring heart. He had a tremendous love for both people and animals, especially the many rescue dogs he and Barbra lovingly cared for throughout the years. Together, they opened their hearts and home to animals in need, providing them with love, comfort, and safety. Kenneth and Barbra personally delivered handmade dog treats to local shelters and rescues, and donated a portion of their sales to support needed supplies for local and out-of-state shelters, rescues, and especially special-needs animals.

Kenneth was a devoted fan of the Los Angeles Dodgers, a passion that grew from his childhood love of baseball and from playing the game himself.

Kenneth will be missed dearly by all who had the privilege of knowing and loving him. His gentle spirit, compassionate nature, and unwavering love for his family, friends, and animals will forever remain in the hearts of those he leaves behind.

A private celebration of life will be held.
