Katherine Ann Richardson-Couch, a cherished mother, sister, and friend, left this world on November 2, 2025, in her beloved hometown of Martinsville, Indiana. Born on August 7, 1970, Katherine's life was a testament to love, strength, and dedication.
She graduated from Martinsville High School and went on to earn an Associates Degree in Phlebotomy, beginning a fulfilling career at Morgan Memorial Hospital (IU Morgan), where she worked tirelessly for 18 years. Katherine’s compassion and commitment were evident in her work, but her greatest joy came from her role as a mother and caregiver. After leaving her job, she devoted herself to her family, embodying the true spirit of nurturing and selflessness.
Katherine found immense joy in the simple pleasures of life, often seen coloring and drawing with passion that spoke to her artistic spirit. She cherished the moments spent attending concerts with her children, creating memories that would be etched in their hearts forever. These hobbies reflected her vibrant nature and her ability to find beauty in the world around her.
Her family was her pride and joy. Katherine is survived by her beloved daughter, Emma Shelley (Justin Montgomery) of Martinsville, and her sons, Cody Shelley (Jessica Shelley) of Martinsville, and Timothy Couch of Bloomington; sister, Kimberly Richardson of Paragon. She was also a proud grandmother to Kira, Hunter, Madison, Peyton, Jaxson, Bradyen, Baileigh, and Hunter, who will remember her warm smile and loving presence.
Katherine's life was not without its hardships; she faced a long-term illness with grace and courage. She leaves behind a legacy of love that will reverberate through the lives of those she touched.
Katherine is preceded in death by her parents, Earl Richardson and Vicki (Kennedy) Richardson, whose love shaped her into the remarkable woman she became. She is also reunited in spirit with her boyfriend of many years, Troy Hardin, who was a significant part of her journey.
In remembering Katherine, we celebrate a life that was rich with love, characterized by resilience and compassion. Though her physical presence is no longer with us, the love she shared will continue to shine brightly in the hearts of her family and friends. She will be deeply missed, but her spirit will undoubtedly live on in the cherished memories and the love she cultivated throughout her life.
