Katherine "Katie" Virginia Shaw

Katherine ‘Katie’ Virginia (Wilson) Shaw passed away peacefully at her home in Avon, Indiana on January 10, 2020.

She was born at Coleman Hospital in Indianapolis, Indiana on March 25, 1930 to Cornelia (Morris) and Harry Wilson.

“Cute Katie” graduated from Broad Ripple High School in 1948.

She was a serviceman’s wife for 15 years to Melville Estle Shaw (deceased). They were married in Indianapolis, Indiana on October 11, 1952. Some of their tours of duty included Texas, Germany, Mississippi, Japan, Indiana and Michigan.

In addition to being a homemaker, she had been employed by American Fletcher National Bank, Fort Benjamin Harrison Finance Center, Fort Benjamin Harrison Bowling Alley, Mary Kay, Market Square Arena, Conseco Fieldhouse and, Levitz Furniture.
Katie was an avid and loyal sports enthusiast and would often greet her favorite basketball team, the Indiana Pacers, at the airport upon their return from away games. Along with discussing teams and statistics with family and friends, she loved to write poetry and even had a couple of poems published.

Katherine is survived by her children:
Debra (Gary) Sue Schmidt, Denise (Gerald) Ann Mozingo, Patrick (Maria) Erin Shaw and,
Dawn (Bobby) Corine Lane

Her grandchildren:
Sonia Schmidt, Crystal Schmidt, Jonathan (Andrea) Mozingo, Matthew (Jenna) Mozingo,
K. Emily (Rob) Shaw-Davis, Alexander Shaw, Mason Lane and, Harrison Lane

Her great grandchildren:
Jaemen (Schmidt) Rowe, Khloee (Schmidt) Rowe, Lucas (Schmidt) Moisey, S. Corbyn (Schmidt) Sherburn, Isaac Mozingo, Alyssa Mozingo, McKenna Mozingo, Abigail Mozingo, Elizabeth Mozingo, Edwin Mozingo, Gwyneth Mozingo, Hadley (Shaw) McGuire and Bella Davis
